I've had this idea for a while now, and I wished to share with you. As we're trying to recreate Norn, we need to use it I think. And that's why I think that creating a forum where we would speak merely in Nynorn is necessary. Of course, the lexicon and grammar being quite vague, we need to set rules.

For example :
-All messages must be written in Nynorn, whether the grammar is good or not.
-An English translation shall be provided under the Nynorn text, so that everyone may understand it if the grammar is wrong, or words missused.
-Experienced Nynorn-speakers shall correct mistakes, and provide right grammar rules and explanations for them not to occur again.
-Unknown words and verbs shall be written in English between "~"'s and a Icelandic, Faroese or Old Norse translation (even rough) must be provided to help experienced Nynorn word-makers in their task.

This is of course a mere idea, and quickly-made rules, this is to be discussed. But I do believe it would boost Nynorn revival process... So, what do you think?

A rough translation into Nynorn as I might suggest it, however I would like to see some other suggestion for 'til taks' (available) and 'rønd' (experienced), any suggestions?

Text:

Eg hev havt etta hugskot (idea) i en stund nu, og eg visti (wanted to) purta dað veð dor. Sen vi atla at ørða upp (revive) Norn, tinki eg at vi mynu nota (use) dað. Dess vegna tinki eg at dað er nøðigt (necessary) at vi skapa forum hvar vi tala bara Nynorn. Sjalvandi, då ordamergj og grammatik eru mukkið nån (vague), mynu vi seta regler (rules).

Til dømes:
-All bud mynu verga skrivað å Nynorn, hverti grammatikken er guð or ikke.
- Ensk tøding skal vera til taks (available) under nynorna teksten[on], so at all mynu skilja dað, sjalvt um grammatikken er rang or ord eru misnotað.
-Kender Nynorn talare skylu retta mistøk, og geva rettar grammatiskar regler og fråredingar (explanations) så de ikke ske åtte[r].
-Ukend ord og verber skylu skrivast å ensku milla "~"’er, og islandsk, førøsk or fornnorn tøding må gevast at hjalpa røndon nynorn ordasmidon i derra drivi.

Etta er sjalvandi bara et hugskot, og skøttgerdar regler, sen mynu kjoklast. Men mjer tukti dað myndi ‘boosta’ Nynorna uppørðingen (revival process) ....So, hvat tinka di?

Wordlist:

No. = Norn, O.N. = Old Norse, Icel. = Icelandic, Far. = Faroese, Sh.Sc. = Shetland Scots

hugskot idea: (No. hu[g] (mind) + skot (shot)) (Icel. Hugskot)
nøðigt necessary (No. nø[ð] nf. ON nægð/nauð) (Far. Neyðugt)
ordamergj Lexicon (No. ord (word) + mergj (crowded mass)
nån vague (Sh.Sc. nåni – dwarfish person, boy too small for his age)
fråreding explanation (Sh.Sc. red = ON greið) (Far. Frágreiðing)
ordasmið “word-maker”: (No. ord (word) + smið (blacksmith)) (Far. Orðasmiður)
rønd experienced (Icel. Reyndur)

Yeah, the Tutorial is not thorough enough to start using the language, but I thought it was good starting talking about it. And.... strange how I began writing a English-Nynorn dictionary a month ago :)

I think those who are able to do it should.
If i had to do what Ljun just did there, it would take me about 5 hours to look up every single word, converting words from old norse to norn, and make the grammar right enough to be understandable.

But i think we should encurrage people to just translate small phrases at first, but not demand they write the entire thing in nynorn.
Etta finns mjer at vera gutt hugskot :)
(This occours to me to be a good idea)

I think the first task would be to complete a Nynorn/English lexicon and move from there.
