Eg spekuleraði lengi um hugskotið um at få serligt flag fyri Nynorn til at skilja dað frå hetlendsku og orknøsku dialektonon. Eg tenkti altið at dað skuldi vara flagg veð skandinaviska krossenon, men kundi ikke finna rjettu liternar. Men ett lølegt andelukk hjålpti mjer at finna dann rjetta. Dann 29. juli 2016 då Førøjar heldu uppå Ulavsvøku hengdi enhvar i Denmark, ið vildi marka ennan tilbørð, førøska flaggið veð rangon liton, hvar røtt og blått voru sett hobbelskju. Førøingar voru ikki glaðer veð esu, men ita er annað londilag eg myn ikke fara ut i. Eg tjekkaði dað og fann ut av at dar var ikke nokar annar enek, riki, sysla or tungemål sen notaði ita flagg. So eg gerdi av at taka dað upp fyri nynorn. Hvarar veðmerkingar, meningar, atfinsker, japp og jarg eru velkomen, serlig magdomar fyri Meginlandshjetmål, Vestsiðu- og Fugløarhjetmål og Orknøjamål grundaðer å esu flaggi.
I've been long considering the idea of getting a special flag for Nynorn in order to distinguish it from Shetland and Orkney Scots dialects. I always thought it should be a flag with Scandinavian cross, but couldn't work out the right colours. A ridiculous incident has helped me to find the right one. On July 29, 2016, when Faroe Islands celebrated Ólavsøka, someone in Denmark willing to celebrate this occasion, hang up a Faroese flag with wrong colours, where red and blue were swapped around. Faroe Islanders weren't happy with that, but that's another story I won't go into. I checked it and found out that no other entity, state or province or language community was using this flag. So I decided to pick it up for Nynorn. Any remarks, opinions, objections are welcome, especially models for Shetland Mainland, Westside/Foula and Orkney Nynorn flags, based on this one.

Danish PM in 'embarrassing' Faroes flag blunder
A move by Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen to curry favour with the Faroe Islands by granting them an official flag day has backfired
spectacularly after the wrong flag was hoisted on at least two official buildings.
