I would like to ask something =)

Then the nynorn version of Regin Smiður is done (just posted last stanza), i think it would be funny to make an Orkney version of Hr. sinklars vise :)

I know the song is danish, but the words are mainly nordic since it is an old song dealing with an even older topic.

What i need to know is. Do how many genders do you want for Orkneynorn? and what do i do with the suffixes which mainly has been preserved as /o/?

I sugges we keep the ending -i for dative (when it occours in expressions and such).

Do you think it is too early to make a little Orkney grammar?

I haven't started working on the Orkney grammar yet, but you can have a go at it, and post your ideas here, and then we will see what comes out of it.

Okei, the first thing, if i shall work with Orkney, i want to go over the historical phonology and simplify it allot.

For example, that á usually results in å, but we have a case where it results in aw, and another case with /a/. It would not be wierd if that just two difference dialects. In northern Norway that is actually the case, some get /aw/ like icelandic, but most others get /å/. And some faroese dialects just keep the long old norse /á/.

Thus i would like to choose á > å and generalize it. Because that is the sound development we generalized in shetland nynorn.
