A troll legend

A man found a fiddle-case out of doors and hung up on the wall of his house. Then a voice was heard calling the following unintelligible words:

Norn:

Katta mŏga de līde lō

Katta mŏga de līde lō

I think it can be translated to

english:
In the cat´s stomach the littles lay

danish:
I kattemave de lille lå

Old norse
Kattarmaga þeir litlu lá

But i dont know if "mŏga" should be translated to "son".

If we accept your translation, then in Old Norse it would be "Í kattarmaga þeir litlu lágu".

Yes, "mŏga" can be translated as "son" - ON mǫgr (poetic).

But I don't know if we have to take for granted that "katta" has anything to do with cats, or probably it originates from another similar sounding word. What connection can be between cats and a fiddle-case? That's still a mystery..
